Happy New Year! It’s that time again. It’s time for resolutioning. Is that a word? Maybe not but I feel like using it! Did you hit your goals last year? Do you have high hopes for this year?
As I guy who likes to float around and bounce from interest to interest, I’ve never really picked a direction. I’ve always just worked, made money, and dabbled in hobbies. That’s fine if you like your work or if your hobbies bring in some money. But if neither of these is the case, you really need a new direction.
That was my big take away from last year. If you just do what you’re doing until the next thing comes along, you may get stuck for a long time waiting for the next thing to come along. It’s a lot more productive to have a goal and work towards it.
The other problem with not having a direction for such a long time is that you’re not even sure what direction you want to go in. First, you have to figure out your direction. Then you can go. So I guess that’s where I am now.
There were a lot of discoveries last year. Ok, maybe they weren’t really discoveries as much as admissions to myself. But I need to change some pretty major things. But I’m smart enough now to realize that there’s no point in changing things until I know where I want to head next.
So, I guess this is my really long-winded way of saying it’s time to rediscover my path! What are you going to do in 2018?
